Organize your Mornings

Mornings could possibly be the worst time of the day for everyone, especially those with large families. There is breakfast that has to be taken care of smaller children have to be bathed and clothed, everyone has to get ready for the start of the day whether it is going to work or getting kids to school it can be a really hectic thing to manage.

Here are a few tips that can help you organize your mornings and help streamline your day.

  • Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It is important to get the nutrients that your body needs to take on the busy day ahead so make sure that breakfast is served. Set the table the night before. Put out non-perishable items such as cereal etc. Decide the night before what you are going to serve for breakfast or what is going to be offered. If there are more members of the family you can alternate setting the table at night so that it doesn’t always have to be your responsibility.
  • If there are smaller children that need to be dressed by you in the morning, pick out the clothes that they will wear for the entire week. Tape each day of the week on a hangar so that you know which days are which. Now place them in chronological order, ie Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc. This way you can quickly grab the next outfit and get them ready faster. If you have children who can dress themselves, have them do the same thing. Have them pick out their clothes for the entire week. This will save time for them to try and figure out what they are going to wear.
  • Have everyone bathe and wash the night before. Some people like morning showers, but if you are running late it is difficult to take a good shower which is important towards good hygiene. Take the showers at night so that in the morning there is minimum maintenance required.
  • If there are babies in the house, pack the baby bag with all of the supplies needed the night before. Diapers, bottles, pacifiers baby wipes should all be included prior to the morning of. It can be difficult running around and trying to find everything with a crying baby in your arms.
  • If you have to get ready for work, make sure to pack everything you need in your briefcase or bag in the night and place it by the door next to your keys and other items you need to take with you. This way you can have the piece of mind that everything you need for today’s big meeting is already with you and you can sleep better in the night knowing that its taken care of.
  • Try to limit the amount of footwork you actually have to do the previous night. If you can limit the amount of actual work that you have to do in the mornings you will find that your mornings will end up running smoother and with less headache.
