Costume Safety Tips
* Make sure you choose a costume that is made up of a non flammable flame retardant material
* Keep costumes short. Make sure that they are not too long that your child might trip
* If your child is wearing a mask make sure that it does not prevent him/her from having a full view
* When using face paint make sure that it is made up of items that your child is not allergic to, preferably hypoallergenic
* Props such as knives or swords or other items that protrude should be made of flexible material as to not harm your child if they trip on them
Safety Treats
*Always supervise your children when trick-or-treating. Keeping a keen eye on them at all times is very important don’t let them out of your site.
* Use flashlights or glow in the dark sticks
* Go to houses that you are familiar with and stick to neighborhoods that you can trust
* Try to avoid shortcuts such as backyards or alleys. Stay on the main path and well lit streets
Candy safety
* You must tell your children that they cannot eat anything until you have brought it home and inspected it. I know this is hard but it can really be a benefit
* Make sure your children know that they should not eat anything that does not appear to have been manufactured by a big candy company ie. wrapped
* If any candy looks suspicious such as unwrapped or holes in it just toss it
* For especially young children you should make sure that all small candies are removed to prevent them from being choking hazards
I hope that some of these safety tips will help you have a Fun Safe Halloween.
