Your Living Room should be your inviting room. It is your base for relaxation and socializing. If it is not well maintained you will not be able to enjoy the company of your friends and relatives comfortably. If you have gotten past the decluttering stages of the clean home. Try to Feng Shui it.
For those that do not know, Feng means wind and shui means water. This is just a unique way of saying balance. There should be balance throughout your life and throughout your home. Create a positive energy of flow and balance.
The Living Room is the ideal place to begin this flow of positive energy. Most of the time it is the first room you enter, so this needs to be uplifting and inviting.
Positioning
Positioning is very important. You must have security. A good example of this is to make sure that your sofa is up against the wall facing the entrance. If you can’t do this, hang a mirror so that you can easily see the entrance of your home. This provides for a positive feeling of security.
Symmetry
Try to create symmetry between your accessories. Pair up your extra chairs, use a uniform arrangement to give that sense of balance.
Light & Color
Allow the flow of natural light throughout the room. Natural reflecting sunlight helps boost the mind and also helps augment chi. Select colors that reflect optimism. Yellow is a very good color for this. Other colors that make you feel positive are also very good to use. Try to reduce the amount of black as it tends to suck out the natural light which in turn also reduces your energy. Hang photos of enchanting places to help boost positive memories.
Bad Chi
Try to encase your electronic equipment when it is not being used. Do not leave any items isolated as it signifies loneliness.
